Red Wings recall Sheldon Dries after standout AHL season with Griffins
The Detroit Red Wings have recalled forward Sheldon Dries from their AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins. The 31-year-old has spent the entire 2024-25 season with the Griffins, where he has been one of the team's top performers this year. Dries has featured in 26 games for the Griffins so far this season. He has tallied 11 goals, 14 assists, and 25 points, along with a plus-16 rating. Over the full 2024-25 campaign, he has recorded 40 points in 65 regular-season matches and added 2 points in 3 playoff appearances. Before joining the Griffins, Dries played 122 NHL games with the Colorado Avalanche and Vancouver Canucks between 2018 and 2023. During that time, he registered 26 points. His AHL career spans 365 games, where he has accumulated 269 points across multiple teams. Originally from Macomb, Michigan, Dries played college hockey at Western Michigan University from 2013 to 2017. He served as team captain for his final three seasons. Internationally, he won gold with Team USA at the 2012 World Junior A Challenge. The recall brings Dries back to the NHL after a strong AHL campaign. His experience and offensive production could provide depth for the Red Wings. The forward now has the chance to contribute at the highest level once again.
