Red paths resurface in Scotland's Carron Valley, showcasing approximately 3 kilometers of steep drops, flat jump sections, and sharp bends.
Reopening of Runway and Cannonball Trails in Carron Valley
After a temporary closure due to major improvements, the trails in Carron Valley, Scotland have been reopened. Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) announced the site near Glasgow has undergone resurfacing and enhancements to trail features. The Runway and Cannonball trails are nowavailable, with Eas Dubh remaining closed for a few more weeks.
These two red-grade trails combine to form a 5-mile loop, offering stunning views of the surrounding area and diverse features such as stone drops, table top jumps, and berms. With the current reopening, experienced riders can test their skills on a selection of ascents, sweeping descents, jumps, berms, and other technical aspects.
Most of the trails have been resurfaced, particularly the Runway, which provides a freeride descent with features accommodating both beginners and more experienced riders. On the Runway, novices can opt to roll over jumps instead of air, while advanced riders can enjoy significant air time.
Katy McGregor, FLS Area Visitor Services Manager, expressed her enthusiasm about welcoming back mountain bikers. "Our teams have worked diligently to reach this point, and we appreciate the patience and understanding riders have shown during the trails' closure," she said.
FLS also reminded forest visitors to clean their bikes and clothing before exiting the forest due to the current plant health notices on the larch trees in the area.
