Red Bull pondering driver as their racing prodigy?
In the ever-exciting world of Formula 1, speculation and anticipation are reaching a fever pitch as the race for the best drivers and team lineups for the 2026 season heats up.
Mercedes is currently under scrutiny for delaying important decisions regarding their driver lineup for 2026. Meanwhile, Red Bull Racing has secured the services of Max Verstappen until 2026, but the identity of their second driver for the same season remains undecided.
Isaac Hadjar, a Red Bull-contracted driver who impressed in Monza, is emerging as a potential candidate for Red Bull's second driver position. Helmut Marko, Red Bull Motorsport chief, has praised Hadjar's mental capabilities, suggesting that he is capable of competing against Verstappen.
However, Red Bull is not rushing to make a decision. They are gathering data on Hadjar, as well as other Red Bull juniors Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson, to aid in their decision. The team plans to use more races for evaluation before making their decision on the second driver position, with a final decision expected by the end of 2025.
Meanwhile, Red Bull is yet to announce their second driver for the 2023 season. Marko stated that a decision will be made after the Mexican Grand Prix, but the race for the best drivers remains exciting in Formula 1.
Contract extensions for George Russell and Kimi Antonelli at Mercedes have been pending for months, with salary negotiations rumoured to be the cause of the delay. Marko suspects that Russell's hesitation in signing a contract extension might be his revenge for being held off in the past. Valtteri Bottas is currently driving for Mercedes, but it is unclear if this is his last season with the team.
Both Red Bull and Mercedes are planning their Formula 1 driver lineups for 2026 with uncertainties, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the already thrilling world of Formula 1.
