Matthias Bittner, a 21-year-old goaltender, has signed with EHC Red Bull Munich, the four-time German champions. Previously, he was with Krefeld Pinguins. Last season, Bittner played 20 games in goal for Füchse Duisburg in the Oberliga after being loaned there. Now, Munich has three goalies under contract for the upcoming season, including Bittner, Mathias Niederberger, and Simon Wolf.

Bittner's signing was met with enthusiasm from Munich's goaltending coach Patrick Dallaire, who praised the young player's potential and ambition, stating that he's ready to advance in his career.

Matthias Bittner's Background

Born in Germany, Bittner started his ice hockey career in the youth system of Starbulls Rosenheim. Before joining Krefeld Pinguins in 2021/22, he spent his early years developing in Rosenheim. During his first season with Krefeld, he proved his readiness for top-level competition by making his DEL debut. Bittner also played 21 games in DEL2 with the Pinguins before being loaned out to Füchse Duisburg in the Oberliga.
