Trio misses EHC Red Bull Munich game - Red Bull Munich’s injury crisis forces call-ups from junior academy
Red Bull Munich is facing a growing injury crisis, with key players sidelined for weeks. The situation has forced the club to turn to its junior academy for reinforcements. Two young talents have now been promoted to the professional squad.
Forwards Maximilian Kastner and Adam Brooks are out with lower-body injuries, each expected to miss five to six weeks. Defenseman Phillip Sinn is also unavailable due to an upper-body issue, likely sidelined for three to four weeks. The team is further stretched by the absence of forwards Tobias Rieder and Markus Eisenschmid, along with goaltender Mathias Niederberger.
In response, general manager Christian Winkler has called up 18-year-old defenseman Moritz Warnecke and 20-year-old forward Vadim Schreiner from the junior academy. Winkler acknowledged the challenge but described the situation as a chance for the young players to gain experience in Germany’s top league, the DEL.
The call-ups come as Munich struggles with multiple long-term absences. Warnecke and Schreiner will now train and compete with the first team while the injured players recover. Their performances could determine whether they earn a more permanent place in the squad.
