The South Lake Leisure Centre, a highly anticipated addition to Craigavon, is on schedule to open its doors in 2020. This state-of-the-art facility, estimated to cost £35m, is the largest project within Armagh City, Banbridge, and Craigavon Borough Council's capital investment programme.

The leisure centre, designed by McAdam Design, will span an impressive length of 32.33 metres, width of 14.03 metres, and height of 8.38 metres. The elevation consists of nine staircases, eleven platforms, sixty-two water features, two waterslides, and a myriad of products resembling flowers and leaves.

The aquatic play paradise for Craigavon's youngest water players features staircases with no more than three steps at a time and platforms of varying heights. Sixty-two water features create individual water movements, while plentiful water hoses are available for group play. An inclusive splashpad with additional sixteen products is being installed at ground level.

The leisure centre will boast three pools, a large gym, a multi-use sports hall, a spin room, dance studio, cafe, soft play area, two squash courts, and an outdoor adventure centre. The outdoor adventure centre will offer paddle-sports, sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing, wakeboarding, and banana boats.

Farrans Construction is the main contractor for the South Lake Leisure Centre. The creative process for the facility began in 2017, with Ustigate leading the way. Notably, all products on the South Lake Leisure Centre are sourced from Vortex International, an award-winning company with 7600 installations in 50 countries.

The two waterslides on the elevation are a spectacle to behold. The first, a bright red closed flume with three bends and a safe landing point, measures 2.4 metres. The second, a high-entry fuchsia flume with a double loop the loop, promises an exhilarating ride.

The South Lake Leisure Centre is more than just a leisure facility; it's a testament to Craigavon's commitment to providing top-tier amenities for its residents. With over 500 jobs created during the construction phase, it's clear that the centre is set to become a beloved fixture in the community.
