Record-shattering T20 century by 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, surpassing speed records in IPL hitting.
14-Year-Old Sensation Smashes Records in 2025 IPL
The 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi stole the show in the 2025 IPL against Gujarat Titans today (April 28), shattering numerous records and leaving spectators in awe.
A mere 14 years and 23 days old, this prodigy made history as the youngest IPL debutant, acquiring a whopping INR 1.10 crore bid in last November’s auction. Last year, he had also made waves as the fourth-youngest Indian to play a first-class match, securing a debut for Bihar at just 12 years and 284 days old.
In his maiden IPL match against Lucknow Super Giants, Suryavanshi charmed the crowd with a first-ball six, finishing the brief outing with a spirited 20-ball 34. The following match brought a 16-run contribution in 12 deliveries, but it was against the Gujarat Titans at Jaipur on Monday where Suryavanshi truly showcased his prowess with a blistering century. This was his first fifty-plus score in T20 cricket, surpassing his previous high of 34.
Second-Fastest IPL Century Ever
Batting on nine runs off his first seven deliveries, Suryavanshi swiftly moved to 35 in 13 after racking up 28 runs off Ishant Sharma’s second over. He notched up his maiden IPL fifty in a mere 17 balls, becoming the fifth-fastest to reach the milestone. The madness didn't stop there, as Suryavanshi needed just 18 more balls to score his century, earning the second-fastest century in IPL history (only Chris Gayle has reached three figures quicker - in 30 balls). He was eventually dismissed for 101 in 38 balls, hit 11 sixes, and seven fours in his knock.
Youngest T20 Centurion Ever
Amazingly, Suryavanshi is now the youngest T20 centurion on record, breaking Maharashtra's Vijay Zol's previous mark of scoring a hundred at 18 years and 118 days.
Most Sixes by an Indian in a Single IPL Innings
Suryavanshi pulverized the ball with 11 sixes during his innings, ranking fourth in the number of sixes hit in any IPL innings. The top spot is claimed by Chris Gayle, who hammered 17 against Pune Warriors India in 2013.
Suryavanshi also shares joint-honors with Murali Vijay for the most sixes hit by an Indian in a single IPL inning (11). Sanath Jayasuriya also shares this record after hitting 11 sixes for Mumbai Indians against CSK in 2008.
Only Batter Under 18 with 10 or More Sixes in a T20 Innings
Suryavanshi becomes the only batter under the age of 18 to smash 10 or more sixes in a T20 innings.
Third-Quickest 100-Plus Score in IPL History
Suryavanshi's stunning innings had a strike rate of 265.78, making it the third-quickest century in IPL history. Yusuf Pathan’s 37-ball hundred in 2010 had a strike rate of 270.07, and David Miller struck at 265.78 during his 38-ball 101* in 2013.
Highest Partnership for Rajasthan and Quickest 200-Plus Chase in IPL
Led by Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rajasthan chased 210 for victory with a tenth-highest opening stand in IPL history and the highest for any wicket for Rajasthan. They smashed 166 runs in just 11.5 overs, establishing a formidable run rate of 14.02. Rajasthan claimed their prize in an impressive 15.5 overs, setting a new record for the quickest 200-plus chase in the league.
Fewest Innings Taken to Score an IPL Hundred by an Indian
Suryavanshi, playing just his third IPL match, is now credited for scoring a ton in the fewest innings for an Indian player in the competition. Manish Pandey, Paul Valthathy, and Priyansh Arya all had centuries in their fourth innings.
