Record rainfall soaks Metro Vancouver while snow hits Kootenay Pass

Heavy rainfall has finally eased across Metro Vancouver and Howe Sound, ending the weather warning. Several areas recorded impressive totals, with Maple Ridge leading the pack at 41.2 millimetres.

The rain, brought by a slow-moving weather system, was not evenly distributed. Squamish was particularly hard hit, receiving a whopping 93 millimetres. Tantalus was close behind with 70.5 millimetres, while Whistler recorded 32.6 millimetres. Coquitlam and West Vancouver also saw significant rainfall, exceeding 38 millimetres each.

Meanwhile, a winter storm warning is in effect on Highway 3 near Kootenay Pass. Up to 15 centimetres of snow is expected, posing potential travel challenges.

The rainfall warning has ended, but residents are advised to remain cautious as rain continues to affect the region. Motorists on Highway 3 should also exercise caution due to the winter storm warning.
