Bavarian Broadcasting's Charity Blaze

This past Friday saw Bavarian Broadcasting (BR) smash its charity campaign record, reporting a whopping 12.85 million euros in donations during their Sternstunden Day. This annual event, now in its 30th year, has consistently been a beacon of support for children in need, and this most recent result marks the best turnout in the campaign's history.

As the day unfolded, BR's programming focused on shedding light on various aid projects for less fortunate children, while simultaneously asking for generous contributions from its audience. In the evening, the live "Sternstunden-Gala 2023" graced BR Television, inviting celebrities like Uschi Glas, Bruno Jonas, and Michaela May to take to the donation phones and lend their support to the cause.

Udo Wachtveitl, Hilde Gerg, Ludwig Prinz von Bayern, Magdalena Neuner, Erol Sander, and Caro Matzko joined their fellow stars in answering donation calls, collectively helping to boost the campaign's total funds to an astonishing 18.3 million euros.

BR Director Katja Wildermuth, acknowledging the exceptional achievement, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the loyal supporters of Sternstunden, assuring them that their contributions would bring about real, tangible change in the lives of these children. Emphasizing the campaign's impact, she celebrated the fact that donations made during the campaign have consistently improved conditions for children in need and given them a hopeful outlook on life.

The Sternstunden association, led by Thomas Jansing, thanked the public for their invaluable support, emphasizing the long-lasting impact that the charity campaign has on disadvantaged children within Bavaria and beyond. Together with the Bavarian Savings Banks Association, the Sternstunden initiative has been transforming lives by providing aid to sick, disabled, and needy children since 1993, raising an astounding 372 million euros for over 3,800 projects.

3 Decades of Heartfelt Giving

The 30 years marking the lifespan of the Sternstunden charity campaign has seen it endure as a cornerstone of Munich's social calendar. With its focus on uplifting the lives of children in need, the campaign continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to hope and change.
