In the captivating Weserbergland region of Lower Saxony, Germany, a passionate couple, Thomas and Susanne Jeromin, have taken their love for Christmas to new heights. Despite the summer season, these record-breakers have transformed their home into a Christmas wonderland, adorning it with an astounding 555 plastic fir trees.

The Record Institute for Germany (RID) acknowledged their collection, marking it as a new world record. Two years prior, the Jeromins, with Susanne being a geriatric nurse and Thomas a chef, held the title for having 444 trees. Their affection for the festive season has only grown, resulting in 89 additional trees in their new room alone.

Their passion for Christmas decorating started twelve years ago, with Thomas infecting his wife with his love for collecting. Now, post-work, they decorate daily from 3 p.m. until evening and all through the weekends. Their collection now comprises approximately 108,000 baubles, with some recently handcrafted by Susanne herself.

The Jeromins have themed trees, including ones adorned with stuffed animals and squeaky ducks. They have switched entirely to energy-efficient LEDs, keeping their electricity bill around 89 euros per season. The extravagant display is dismantled after Epiphany, allowing the Jeromins to store the plastic trees in their attic for a few months.

Rinteln, known for its charm, has become even more alluring during the Advent season, attracting visitors from neighboring regions, including Switzerland. Despite the seemingly overwhelming sensory experience for visitors, the Jeromins consider it to be their normality. They only turn off the twinkling and glittering lights in their bedroom at night.

Though this unique tradition has not been extensively documented, local news outlets have reported on the Jeromins' Christmas extravaganza, showcasing their thrift-store-sourced collection and energy-saving LED lights.
