Record-breaking "Too Darn Hot" fundraising nomination set for starring role in Inglis August (Late) Online Sale
Exclusive Charity Auction Offers Final Breeding Opportunity with Elite Stallion Too Darn Hot
A unique opportunity awaits breeders as the final nomination for the highly sought-after stallion, Too Darn Hot, goes under the hammer at the Inglis Digital August (Late) Online Sale, taking place from August 22-27. This auction is a charity fundraising initiative for the CatWalk Spinal Cord Injury Trust.
Too Darn Hot, a son of Dubawi, bred and co-owned by Watership Down Stud, the UK operation of Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber, has made a significant impact in the world of horse racing. Standing at Darley’s Kelvinside base in Australia and Dalham Hall in the UK, Too Darn Hot has quickly established himself as one of the Southern Hemisphere’s most elite stallions.
In Australia, Too Darn Hot has earned the titles of Australian Champion First-Season Sire (2023/24) and Australian Champion Second-Season Sire (2024/25), underscoring his rapid and exceptional success in the country’s breeding scene. His Australian season earnings for 2024-25 exceeded $10 million AUD, significantly outpacing rivals, and he led with 58 winners from only 98 runners. Notable progeny include Broadsiding, a four-time Group 1 winner and champion juvenile, who has now joined Too Darn Hot on the Darley stallion roster in Australia.
The connection with the CatWalk Spinal Cord Injury Trust is centered on the charitable use of the final nomination sale to raise funds for spinal cord injury research. The initiative is a collaboration among Godolphin, Watership Down Stud, and CatWalk, with proceeds going directly to support research aimed at improving the lives of people with spinal cord injuries.
Godolphin Australia’s managing director, Andy Makiv, emphasized the exceptional rarity and desirability of accessing Too Darn Hot's services. He underlined the pride in supporting the CatWalk cause through this last available nomination auction before the new breeding season.
The nomination for Too Darn Hot will be Lot 1 of the auction, and the fee for the 2025 season is set at $275,000 AUD. This final nomination auction offers a rare opportunity to breed to one of the Southern Hemisphere’s most elite stallions while directly benefiting a vital charitable cause.
In addition to Too Darn Hot, Diego Velazquez will stand at the National Stud next year after being purchased by Sam Sangster Bloodstock. The proceeds from the sale of Too Darn Hot’s final nomination will be donated to the CatWalk Spinal Cord Injury Trust, making this auction an exceptional event for both breeders and philanthropists alike.
