Recorded as the second costliest transfer of a right back in football history, the deal has been finalized.

Record-breaking second-highest purchase of a Right Back player:

Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko has completed a move to Manchester United from RB Leipzig in a transfer reported to be worth up to €90 million (approximately $98.8 million), making it the second most expensive sale by RB Leipzig.

Sesko, who joined RB Leipzig from RB Salzburg in 2023 for around €24 million, has signed a long-term contract with Manchester United until 2030. The deal includes achievable add-ons and performance incentives, as well as a sell-on clause for a percentage of any future transfer fee.

The transfer fee for Sesko is reportedly €85 million, with additional bonuses bringing the potential total to €90 million. The economic conditions were a factor in the transfer, with the bidding war between Manchester United and Newcastle United resulting in Sesko's purchase price being driven up to more than €80 million.

Marcel Schaefer, Leipzig's sporting director, commented on the transfer, saying, "We are sad to see Benjamin leave, but we are proud of what he has achieved with us. We wish him all the best at Manchester United."

Sesko scored 27 goals and set up 7 more in 64 Bundesliga games for RB Leipzig, and was successful six times each in the Champions League and the DFB Cup for the club. His departure from Leipzig was a tough process due to the bidding war between Manchester United and Newcastle United, who also showed interest in the young striker.

In the coming season, Newcastle United will play internationally, including in the Champions League. Despite Newcastle offering a higher initial sum, Manchester United outbid them for Sesko's services.

Sesko's transfer to Manchester United has been announced by both clubs, and he is now set to join his new teammates at Old Trafford. The transfer makes Sesko the second most expensive sale by RB Leipzig, surpassed only by Josko Gvardiol's sale to Manchester City for €91.5 million.

Sesko has been compared to striker star Erling Haaland, and is expected to make a significant impact at Manchester United. With his long-term contract in place, fans can look forward to seeing Sesko in Red Devils colours for many years to come.

Benjamin Sesko's move to Manchester United from RB Leipzig has earned him a spot in the premier-league, following his successful stint in German football and European-leagues. Despite initial interest from Newcastle United, Manchester United outbid them for his services, making it the second most expensive sale by RB Leipzig, just behind Josko Gvardiol's sale to Manchester City.
