Duplantis Sets New World Record in Pole Vaulting

In a thrilling display of athletic prowess, Armand "Mondo" Duplantis set a new world record in pole vaulting at the recently concluded meeting in Budapest. The event, which featured a well-attended crowd, saw Duplantis soar to a height of 6.29 meters, breaking his own record set just two months prior in Stockholm.

Duplantis, an Olympic champion in pole vaulting, has now set a record-breaking 13 world records in his illustrious career. His latest achievement comes after a successful 2021 where he won gold at the Tokyo Olympics with a 6.00 m clearance, though he did not set a world record during that event.

The 2022 World Athletics Championships, however, saw a different story. Held in Oregon, Duplantis set another world record with a 6.21 m vault, solidifying his position as one of the greatest pole vaulters of all time.

In the same event in Budapest, Bence Halasz, an Olympic silver medalist in hammer throw, emerged victorious in the hammer throw competition with a throw of 83.18 meters. Merlin Hummel, the German champion in hammer throw, finished fourth with a throw of 79.01 meters.

Meanwhile, in the long jump event, Miltiadis Tentoglou, an Olympic and world champion in long jump, jumped 8.05 meters to finish second. The winner of the long jump competition was Simon Batz from Germany, who leapt to a distance of 8.07 meters.

The Athletics World Championships will take place in Tokyo in one month, and with Duplantis setting a new world record in the city where he won gold at the Olympics, anticipation for the event is high.
