Champion Kazakhstan Shines at the Global School Games
In April 2023, the vibrant Serbian city of Zlatibor hosted the world's most significant multi-sport event for 13 to 15-year-olds - the ISF U-15 Gymnasiade. This epic showdown brought together over 3,000 energetic youth athletes hailing from a staggering 65 nations!
Our beloved Kazakhstan team, having undergone a rigorous selecion process, sent 23 young warriors to tackle competition in four epic sports: judo, freestyle wrestling, boxing, and chess!
Following their intense battles, the Kazakhstani team emerged triumphant, grabbing a hefty haul of 11 medals! Aibek Sadyk, Shyngyshkan Makarov, Nurtas Alimbai, Saylaukazy Symbat, and Nurbulat Amir from the boxing crew showcased their powerful jabs and devastating hooks to bag gold medals. Alihan Smaqul also impressed, taking home a well-deserved bronze.
Bakdaulet Serikali and Erasil Kalmahanbet, our judo whizzes, were the silver and bronze linings, delivering dazzling take-downs and fluid executions to dethrone their opponents!
In freestyle wrestling, Visakh Arakhov took a strong second place, while Mansur Akylbay and Nurkhozha Kalybek demonstrated resilience, earning bronze medals to boost our tally.
Enlightening news from the chessboard! Altynai Algapparova and Zhana Nurym, embodying the spirit of fair play, were honored by the Fair Play Committee for their unwavering sportsmanship and ethical integrity.
Notably, Kazakhstan joined the ISF Gymnasiade fray in 2022 and has already developed a reputation as a fierce and inspiring international contender. Keep an eye out for these promising young athletes in the years to come!
