Record-breaking Evangelical Olympiad in Barcelona sees participation of nearly 1,500 children

In the vibrant city of Barcelona, the annual Evangelical Olympiads took place on Saturday, 5 October, at a municipal stadium. This year's event, the 37th edition, was a testament to the strong community spirit among evangelical Christian churches in the region.

The Olympiads are not limited to Barcelona alone. They also extend to Madrid and the north-western region of Galicia, providing a platform for children and teenagers to come together and celebrate their faith through sports and fellowship.

This year's event was marked by a record-breaking participation of 1,490 boys and girls from 88 evangelical churches. The Dádiva church from the city of Cornellà de Llobregat emerged victorious, while the Llibertat church from Sant Boi de Llobregat finished in second place, and the Rutlla church from Girona placed third.

The festive and crowded audience, consisting of parents, friends, and other church members, cheered on their young representatives with flags and representative badges. The event featured a special performance by Kike Pavón, a renowned singer of Christian music in Spanish language, with over 800,000 listeners on Spotify.

The Evangelical Olympiads are an initiative of the Evangelical Sports Association and the Pocket Testament League, aiming to foster a spirit of camaraderie and competition among evangelical Christian churches. The event has been organized annually for almost 40 years.

In addition to covering the event, the Evangelical Focus, a publication that focuses on news related to evangelical Christianity, also launched the #OneMoreYearEF campaign. This campaign is not an advertisement but a sustainability challenge for supporters of Evangelical Focus. More information about the campaign can be found on their website.

As the sun set on the Barcelona Olympiad, the spirit of unity, sportsmanship, and faith remained, serving as a reminder of the enduring power of community and the shared values that bind us together.
