Reconstructed park setting: HSV constructs multi-purpose facility for everyone

The q.beyond Arena in Hamburg, located just 2km from the city centre, is undergoing a significant transformation into a modern sports hall, known as the HSV Center at Volkspark. However, specific details about the renovation's progress, timeline, and community benefits are yet to be publicly disclosed.

This transformation is expected to bring several improvements to the venue, aligning with typical arena renovations and urban development projects. The HSV Center will boast updated facilities to meet modern sports and event standards, enhanced spectator experiences with improved seating, technology, and amenities, and increased multipurpose use for sports, concerts, and community events.

The new facility will cater to both competitive and recreational sports, offering three playing fields and space for 500 spectators. The renovated sports hall will also house new changing rooms, storage rooms, and a clubhouse. The ceiling height is being improved to accommodate ball sports, although this has caused a delay in the completion of the project.

The HSV Center at Volkspark is not exclusive to competitive sports but is also intended for recreational and educational purposes. It is expected to serve as a venue for a variety of activities, including school sports, local social initiatives, and company sports.

To ensure fair and transparent access, 14,000 free hours per year will be allocated to non-profit organisations, schools, social initiatives, and clubs. The HSV Center at Volkspark is designed to be accessible and beneficial to a diverse range of organisations and initiatives.

Juliane Timmermann, sports spokeswoman for the SPD faction, has stated that the HSV Center at Volkspark will provide space for various activities. The venue is expected to be a versatile one, accommodating a wide range of activities.

The renovation of the Arena is being overseen by HSV e.V., who took over the building in the fall of 2024. A written request for funds has been made to the Senate for the completion of the project, with an expected completion date by early 2026. The renovated Arena will be named the HSV Center at Volkspark.

For precise details such as the renovation progress, projected completion timeline, and specific community benefits of this arena project in Hamburg, it is recommended to check official Hamburg city announcements, q.beyond Arena’s management releases, or local news sources directly covering this redevelopment.
