Recognized Volunteers in Obertshausen Honored for Their Dedication
Obertshausen Honours Local Politicians and Community Leaders
In a ceremony held by the city council of Obertshausen, several local figures were recognised for their exceptional contributions to the community. Amongst those honoured was Hildegard Knorr, who received the Obertshausen Medal, the city's highest award according to its statutes.
Hildegard Knorr, a dedicated advocate for the common good, has been a voluntary city councilor since 2006. Her service extends beyond the council, as she chaired various committees and was a member of the city council from 1993 to 2006.
Another recipient of recognition was Cornelia Wicht-Gerhardt, a member of the Greens since 1998. Cornelia entered the city council directly with her first candidacy for the Greens in 2011. Since then, she has been a committed member, taking on roles such as voluntary city councilor, deputy faction leader, and, since 2016, a member of the magistrate.
Tobias Koch, also a member of the Greens, began his political career in 1996. He was active in the city council from 1997 and was honoured with an honorary certificate for his long-standing voluntary commitment.
Jürgen Krapp, chairman of the Wine Friends Obertshausen, has a twelve-year political career in the municipality. He has been a voluntary city councilor since 2016 and is currently a city councilor and deputy chairman of the FDP faction. Jürgen is also known for his work co-organizing the Obertshausen Wine Festival and his previous role as deputy chairman of the Adult Education Center.
Christel Wenzel-Saggel began her political commitment in 2011 and was deputy faction leader from 2016 to 2021. Her dedication was rewarded with the merit medal in bronze, followed by the merit medal in silver in 2021.
Each of these individuals has made a significant impact on the city of Obertshausen, consistently advocating for the city's concerns and committing themselves to the common good in various areas. The Obertshausen Medal, given to personalities who have made an outstanding contribution to the city, is a fitting tribute to their efforts.
Cornelia Wicht-Gerhardt, in addition to her political work, is actively involved in numerous other areas. From 1999 to 2005, she was treasurer of the Hermann Hesse School's support association, demonstrating her commitment to education.
Hildegard Knorr, in her time as a voluntary city councilor, has shown a dedication that extends beyond the council. She has been committed to the common good in many areas, a testament to her enduring passion for her community.
Tobias Koch, Christel Wenzel-Saggel, and Jürgen Krapp, too, have demonstrated their commitment through their long-standing service in various roles within the municipality. Their work has made a tangible difference in the lives of Obertshausen's residents.
The Obertshausen Medal ceremony was a celebration of these individuals' contributions and a reminder of the importance of dedicated service to one's community. Each recipient's story serves as an inspiration for future generations of Obertshausen's leaders.
