Firefighters Honoured for Long-Standing Service in Leversen-Sieversen

At the annual general assembly of FF Leversen-Sieversen, several firefighters were recognised for their dedication and commitment to the service.

Deputy District Fire Chief Sven Wolkau presented awards to members who have served the community tirelessly for many years. Among the honourees were Sven Gerhards, Hartmut Peters, Michael Schubert, and Andreas Zopp, who were celebrated for their 50 years of service.

Sven Gerhards, a 48-year-old firefighter, received the golden Fire Brigade Cross of Merit with ribbon from the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior and Sports in 2021. He has been a member of the command of FF Leversen-Sieversen for 25 years and has served as a breathing apparatus instructor for the same duration. His exceptional service, outstanding commitment, and leadership roles have been acknowledged with the award.

Fire Chief Dirk Behmer, Local Fire Chief Niklas Schubert, deputies Benjamin Eisenschmidt and Philip Instinske, and Mayor Dirk Seidler thanked the honourees for their long-standing service. Sven Gerhards was also congratulated by Fire Chief Dirk Behmer, Local Fire Chief Niklas Schubert, his deputies Benjamin Eisenschmidt and Philip Instinske, and Honorary Local Fire Chief Andreas Schubert.

Hartmut Peters, Michael Schubert, and Andreas Zopp, who are founding members of the youth fire department established in May 1973, were also honoured for their long-standing service. Deputy Local Fire Chief Christofer Boettcher was recognised for his 25 years of active service by the Ministry of the Interior.

The calm and experienced leadership of Sven Gerhards enriches training and operations, particularly for younger members, as noted by Sven Wolkau. The 48-year-old chief fireman's contributions to the fire service have been invaluable.

The anniversary of the youth fire department's founding, celebrated in August, was also noted during the ceremony. The event serves as a reminder of the dedication and commitment of firefighters like Sven Gerhards, Hartmut Peters, Michael Schubert, Andreas Zopp, and Christofer Boettcher, who have dedicated their lives to serving their community.
