Recently retired footballer Samuel Umtiti starts consulting role with Super Monday DAZN
Samuel Umtiti, the former French international and World Cup winner, has announced his retirement from professional football but will continue his involvement in the sport as a consultant for the streaming platform DAZN.
Umtiti, who previously played for Olympique de Lyon (OL), Barcelona, and Lecce, has joined a star-studded team of consultants at DAZN that includes Jonathan Zebina, Jeremy Menez, and Alain Boghossian.
In a significant move, Umtiti will regularly work as an expert on the program "Königsklassen," which will be broadcast for the first time 5 months after the quarterfinal exit of Bayern Munich, starting with the home game against Chelsea. He will also comment on major Serie A matches, which are broadcast on DAZN this season.
Umtiti and Jonathan Zebina will be present in the studio for "Super Monday DAZN," a new weekly show presented by Virginie Sainsily. The multisport magazine reviews the entire weekend's sports events and will be broadcast every Monday evening, with the first episode on September 22.
Interestingly, "Super Monday DAZN" will be available for free for the first time, and the Serie A match on the day of the show's broadcast will also be free. The show uses its right to information to broadcast images from Championships that DAZN does not hold the rights to.
Umtiti hinted at a future in football beyond playing in a video posted on his Instagram account. He expressed his passion for the sport and his plans to express it beyond the lines of the field.
The retirement of Umtiti does not mean he will completely leave football. He plans to continue his involvement in the sport, and his new role at DAZN is a testament to that. Umtiti won the 2018 World Cup during his career, and his expertise and insights are sure to add value to the shows he will be a part of.
