Recap of the Summer League Competition
The GTTA Summer Table Tennis League saw some exciting competition this year, with a mix of seasoned players and newcomers gracing the courts. Among the participants were youngster Thea Cummins, former teammate Shaun Mosley, island champion Maurice James, and up-and-coming junior Thea Cummins.
New additions to the league, Rob Broad and Mike Corbin, also made their mark, finishing the league closely behind long-time leader Jez Powell. Keira Eldridge, another standout player, had a breakthrough summer campaign, competing well with players in divisions above her own.
Keira's victories were particularly notable, as she managed to beat Ravenscroft Panthers' player Peter Vivian and GTTA veteran Ian Fitchet in her final matches. Unfortunately, the player who achieved second place and their point total remain unspecified in the search results.
Meanwhile, Micah Cohen continued his dominance, winning the Guernsey Table Tennis Association Summer League title for the second consecutive year. Despite a close 11-9 loss in the fifth set against Steve Ozanne and Jez Powell, Micah showed resilience and determination, competing with established Division 1 players such as Jez Powell, Jamie Ferbrache, and Steve Ozanne.
The final standings, excluding Keira Eldridge and Micah Cohen, saw Jez Powell finish in third place. Rob Broad, Mike Corbin, and Ian Fitchet's positions and points remain unknown. It's worth noting that Ian Fitchet now plays in the third division of the GTTA.
In Week 12, Keira Eldridge finished in second place with 77 points, just 2 points behind the eventual winner. The exact score of the winner, however, remains undisclosed due to two of Keira's scores being scratched.
Overall, the GTTA Summer Table Tennis League provided an exciting and competitive environment for all participants. The young talents, such as Thea Cummins and Keira Eldridge, showed great promise, while seasoned players like Micah Cohen and Jez Powell continued to impress with their skills and dedication. The league served as a testament to the vibrant table tennis scene in Guernsey.
