Rebuilt Future of a Diligent Club Through Relentless Effort
Warnow Dart Club Transforms Old Youth Club into New Home
The Warnow Dart Club, based in a community in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, has undergone a significant transformation over the past year and a half. The club, which currently boasts 54 members, has managed to secure a new clubhouse, thanks to the dedication and hard work of its chairman, Tobias Wahmkow, and its members.
The old youth club in the community was made available for the Warnower Dart Club to take over. Since then, the members have been working tirelessly to renovate the space. They have built walls, renewed the electricity, and constructed standing tables. The clubhouse now boasts two playing areas, one of which required the ceiling to be raised to meet the requirements of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Dart Federation.
The new clubhouse also features a kitchen, and work has begun on the outdoor area, which now includes parking spaces and a 110 square meter terrace. However, the floor is not yet completed, and the club currently has eleven dartboards.
The club chairman, Tobias Wahmkow, is delighted with the effort put into the new clubhouse. He remained undeterred despite initial skepticism about the project. The Warnow Dart Club has created a new home that offers not only its members but also the youth in the region a perspective.
The club has invested approximately 60,000 euros so far, with funds coming from grants, member contributions, and private donations. Despite this, the club lacks the necessary funds to install new windows at the beginning of next year. The planned window installation funding is currently being organised by the club's board in cooperation with local sponsors.
The high electricity costs are a concern for the club, and they are considering applying for a grant to install a solar panel system on the roof. The club has spoken with the school director, who is enthusiastic about the idea.
The Warnow Dart Club has ambitious plans for the future. They aim to establish a school AG to introduce primary school students to the sport of darts. This initiative is part of the club's commitment to fostering the sport and providing opportunities for the youth in the region.
The club started the current season with three teams. The team in the Verbandsliga celebrated an impressive 20:0 victory against the Elbdarters from Ludwigslust, while the Landesliga and Bezirksklasse teams had to accept narrow defeats. Despite these results, the spirit of the club remains high, and the members are looking forward to the future with optimism.
