The Minster of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, urges every APC member to prioritize President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027 above their personal ambitions.
Reason for Tinubu's Re-Election in 2027 - Keyamo's Perspective
During an appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today, Keyamo emphasized that Tinubu's second term is vital to complete the sweeping economic reforms already started by his administration.
"Every APC member in Nigeria today should be gunning for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, regardless of personal consequences, because he needs a second term to fully wrap up these reforms," Keyamo asserted.
Keyamo issued a warning that a halt to the ongoing reform efforts if a new government emerged in 2027 would be disappointing. He explained, "It'd be a pity for any government to step in 2027 and halt these reforms; this has been the case in the past, where half-baked policies were implemented due to interruptions."
Following the defection of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to the APC—a move seen as a significant political shake-up—Keyamo willingly ceded the party's leadership in the state to the governor. According to Keyamo, this was a necessary sacrifice to fortify the APC and strengthen Tinubu's re-election chances.
"Whether sacrifices like relinquishing (party leadership in Delta) are necessary, it's all marketable as long as we're strengthening the APC more for the re-election of Mr. President," Keyamo clarified. "I don't mind even if it impacts me negatively as a politician or costs me politically; President Tinubu must be elected."
Keyamo pointed out that the defection of the Delta governor dealt a severe blow to the PDP, describing Delta as the "heart" of the opposition party.
"The PDP is well aware that they've lost something like their heart. Delta was the heart of the PDP. Delta was one of the major financiers of the PDP; they've lost that," he emphasized.
