Real-time reports: Chaos breaks out with gunfire at a fresh aid distribution center in Gaza, claiming one life and injuring 48 individuals.

In Gaza on Wednesday, the Health Ministry reported one death and 48 injuries after gunfire broke out at a newly established aid distribution site. The site, run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), was swarmed by a crowd that breached the facility's fences. The source of the gunfire remains uncertain, with potential suspects including Israeli forces, private contractors, or unidentified parties.

Tensions have persisted in the war-torn enclave, with Israel vowing to take control of Gaza and eliminate or disarm Hamas, the militant group behind a deadly 2023 attack that left over 1,200 civilians dead and 251 people abducted. The Israeli offensive has resulted in approximately 54,000 Palestinian fatalities, according to Gaza's Health Ministry, which does not distinguish between combatants and civilians in its casualty count.

Meanwhile, leaders from France and Indonesia have shown support for ending the ongoing crisis. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto commended France's advocacy for a two-state solution in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and echoed French President Emmanuel Macron's calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities and granting full access to humanitarian aid for Gaza residents.

Indonesia, a strong supporter of the Palestinians, does not maintain formal diplomatic relations with Israel. President Subianto pledged that Indonesia would recognize Israel once a Palestinian state is established.

Separately, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced strikes on the airport in Yemen's capital, previously held by Iran-backed rebels. According to Katz, the attacks destroyed the last operational plane belonging to the Houthis. The Houthis, in response, have fired multiple missiles at Israel in recent days without causing casualties.

The Houthis have historically supported Palestinians by targeting Israel with missiles, including during the Gaza conflict. Some missiles have breached Israel's missile defense systems, resulting in casualties and damage. Israel last targeted the airport in Sanaa on May 6, causing significant damage.

Critics have raised concerns over the GHF, a new aid distribution system backed by the US and Israel. The United Nations and other humanitarian organizations have voiced apprehensions about the system, citing potential violations of international humanitarian law and the exclusion of established aid networks. Amid these challenges, the UN continues to strive to deliver aid based on its established system, facing difficulty coordinating with Israeli authorities to ensure delivery of supplies to Gaza.
