Real Madrid reportedly considers Vitinha as an ideal replacement following Modric's expected exit.
Portugal's Champions League Final Roster: Vitinha, Neves, Mendes, and Ramos
This Saturday, the Champions League finale will take place at Munich's Allianz Arena, featuring PSG against Internazionale. Representing Portugal in this prestigious match will be Vitinha, João Neves, Nuno Mendes, and Gonçalo Ramos, after their elimination of Arsenal in Paris midweek.
Speaking with Desporto ao Minuto, coach Israel Dionísio expressed pride in watching one of his former players excel on the European football stage. However, he believes that Vitinha could exceed expectations, possibly finding a more suitable fit at Real Madrid.
"I am always thrilled, be it Vitinha or another player I've worked with in the past. While Real Madrid might be a more beneficial destination for Vitinha, as I think he suits their midfield perfectly with Modrić's departure, winning the Champions League could mark the ideal timing for him to pursue new challenges," he began.
Dionísio also commented on the possibility of success for Vitinha in English football, saying, "I'm unsure if he would succeed in England, until he proves himself. Real Madrid might be the most suitable choice for him. Nonetheless, I feel immense pride for the player."
Reflecting on Porto's 2004 Champions League triumph, Dionísio notes a potential parallel between Vitinha and João Neves' strong performances at PSG, and the potential impact on the Portuguese national team.
Meanwhile, discussions surrounding Vitinha's potential transfer to Real Madrid have been ongoing. The Portuguese midfielder, at age 25, has become a key target for the Spanish giants during the summer transfer window of 2025. Financial constraints and PSG's determination to keep the player may make a transfer difficult to achieve.
Real Madrid is expected to strengthen its midfield due to Modrić's potential departure, and Vitinha is a prime candidate given his skills and compatibility with the team's style. However, the high price tag on Vitinha and Financial constraints being a major obstacle make the deal uncertain.
The club will likely explore other midfield options during the summer transfer window, despite their interest in Vitinha.
In the Champions League Final this Saturday, Vitinha, a key player from Portugal, will be competing for Port, showcasing his skills against top teams like PSG and Internazionale. Additionally, coach Israel Dionísio has expressed that Vitinha could potentially excel even beyond the Champions League, possibly finding a more suitable fit at Real Madrid, given his midfield compatibility with the team.
