Real estate professionals herald triumph of 15-and-under team
The Realtors, a newly-formed basketball team under the guidance of Donald Lim, emerged victorious in the recent 15-Under category tournament, held at Crown Hoops on Gabuya St., Pardo, Cebu City, said tournament organizers.
Throughout the tournament, the Realtors demonstrated their superiority, remaining undefeated amidst tough competition. In the championship game, played on May 10, they clinched the title by defeating Batang Carcar, 61-44.
Entering the second half trailing 26-21, the Realtors turned the game around in the third quarter with their persistent defensive pressure, successfully shifting the momentum in their favor to seal the victory.
Team captain Rajnish Butaslac was recognized as the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Coach Lim, both the mentor and owner of the Realtors, acknowledged that the third quarter was a turning point for their team. He emphasized that while they were not initially anticipating the championship win, their focus has primarily been on player development rather than just advancing the skills of his 12-year-old son who currently attends Ateneo. Lim also shared his history as a player for Adamson University and San Sebastian, under coach Egay Macaraya in Manila.
In addition to Butaslac, the Realtors' roster includes Raffy Pasaje, Ahkie Enriquez, Liam Lim, Rio Badrian, Zyke Villanueva, Richard Abrigo, Franzly Dalumpines, Javen Ruiz, Ivan Sabando, Vinz Fuentes, Rick Armacin, Maglasang, Kenneth Marikit, and Chaz dela Pena.
Looking ahead, coach Lim plans to participate in the Cebu Youth Basketball League (CYBL) to provide further opportunities for player exposure and growth, including potential school matches and out-of-town games.
The Realtors, fresh from their victory in Cebu, have their sights set on competitions in Manila, as coach Lim plans to join the Cebu Youth Basketball League (CYBL). In light of their success, one might imagine them competing against teams in the bustling city of Manila, just as coach Lim did during his playing days at Adamson University and San Sebastian. Their roster, which includes the MVP, Rajnish Butaslac, could potentially make waves in the basketball scene beyond Cebu.
