Readying Oberhausen for Tomorrow's Horizons
As the city of Oberhausen navigates challenges from skilled worker shortages and climate change, it also faces financial hurdles due to the consequences of the Corona pandemic and the Russian war of aggression. By the end of this year, the city's debt is expected to exceed two billion euros.
In a positive stride, the SPD city council faction has been working towards making Oberhausen more livable and lovable. One of their initiatives is the creation of a model apartment for elderly and disabled residents in Sterkrade's pedestrian zone, in cooperation with the organization "Gute Hoffnung leben."
This project aims to provide barrier-free and accessible living spaces tailored to the needs of its target residents, enhancing independent living and improving quality of life through thoughtful design and supportive features. The model apartment will showcase and test digital assistance systems for elderly and disabled individuals.
While specific updates on the project's current status are not widely available, it is known that the first two outdoor fitness areas in Lirich and Sterkrade are being established. The SPD's social politicians proposal for the model apartment is becoming a reality.
Oberhausen's solidarity and sympathy are with the people of Saporishja, a partner city repeatedly exposed to Russian attacks. Donations from Oberhausen are intended to alleviate the worst suffering of the people in Saporishja.
The time of stagnation is finally over, not only for the bridging project, but also for other areas of improvement in Oberhausen. The SPD city council committees and the district council of Alt-Oberhausen have brought the topic of "Bridging" back to the top of the agenda.
An agreement between Berlin and Düsseldorf on Oberhausen's financial situation would be good news for 2023. An old debt solution must be implemented this year to address Oberhausen's financial situation, with the federal and state governments responsible.
As the city moves forward, it is worth noting that political efforts are worthwhile, and sometimes many small steps are needed to achieve significant progress. For the most accurate and up-to-date information about the model apartment project, I recommend contacting the local municipality of Oberhausen, the Sterkrade pedestrian zone management, or the organization "Gute Hoffnung leben" directly.
The SPD city council faction wishes all residents of Oberhausen a happy and healthy New Year 2023. The war in Ukraine, initiated by Russia, has permanently disrupted hopes for a swift return to post-Corona normality. Nonetheless, Oberhausen remains resilient and committed to improving the lives of its residents.
