Ready and fully equipped

The Alfred-Fischer-Hall in Hamm, Germany, has served as an emergency shelter for refugees since the end of 2023. As of October 1st, the Regional Government will cease operation of the shelter, marking the beginning of its transformation.

The hall can be converted back into its original state within 72 hours following the residents' departure. Dismantling, storage of equipment, and necessary renovation and repair work will then take place.

The city of Hamm has not received any refugee assignments for nearly two years. However, this is set to change in 2025, as the number of new asylum seekers assigned to North Rhine-Westphalia has significantly decreased. The trend now favours relief for cities like Hamm, and the city will once again receive refugee allocations from the government of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The current residents of the Alfred-Fischer-Hall will be accommodated in other facilities within the region of North Rhine-Westphalia. In the meantime, around 240 free municipal accommodation places will be available to replace the capacity of the emergency shelter. Moreover, more accommodation places can be acquired at short notice if needed.

Further information about the Office for Integration, Foreigner, and Refugee Affairs in Hamm can be found in the Service Portal. The Office is located at Sachsenweg 65, 59073 Hamm. Unfortunately, the email address for the Office is not provided in the given text.

It is worth noting that the Alfred-Fischer-Hall can accommodate up to 400 people. Once the necessary renovations and repairs are complete, the hall can be ready for its next purpose.

In conclusion, the Alfred-Fischer-Hall has played a crucial role in providing shelter for refugees in Hamm. As it transitions back to its original state, the city looks forward to welcoming new residents in the future.
