Reading Rainbow Returns with Mychal McKinney as New Host

Reading Rainbow, the beloved children's television program, is making a comeback. The show, originally hosted by LeVar Burton, will return with a news iteration on October 4. Mychal McKinney, known as Mychal the Librarian on TikTok, will take the helm as the new host.

The original Reading Rainbow launched in 1983 and quickly became the most popular PBS program in classrooms. It won 26 Emmy Awards during its initial run. Now, after many years, the show is back with a new host and a new platform. Mychal McKinney, who also serves as the Resident Librarian for PBS Kids and promotes children's literacy on TikTok, will lead the revival.

The new Reading Rainbow will premiere on Sony Pictures Television's YouTube channel, KidsZuko. Viewers can expect celebrity guest stars to narrate new books, including Jamie Chung, Gabrielle Union, Adam DeVine, Chrissy Teigen, and John Legend.

Reading Rainbow's return is set to inspire a new generation of young readers. With Mychal McKinney at the helm and celebrity narrators, the show promises to be an engaging and entertaining way to encourage children's love for reading.
