The final design was the result of a collaborative effort between Caroline Black, Justin Alexander, and Mel B herself. The design process involved numerous conversations and sketches, with inspiration drawn from various dresses Mel B tried on at Evelie South Kensington.
Mel B had a clear vision for her Moroccan wedding dress, and her strong sense of what she wanted made the design process a joy for the team. The dress was designed to be a bold red dress with lots of shimmer, focusing on adding extra sparkle and shimmer while keeping the dress light and easy to move in.
The gown featured hand-placed red crystals and bugle beads, a sweetheart neckline corset, a high slit, and a lace-up corset back with red ribbons. The design also included a Moroccan-inspired veil decorated with red crystals to match the dress's embellishments.
The intricate work required six skilled artisans and 850 hours to complete.
Mel B's husband, Rory McPhee, wore a traditional black tie suit for their second wedding, contrasting his tartan and kilt attire from the London ceremony.
