Beginning in January, they will embark on a six-part journey with "Ich will zum ESC!", a docu-series designed to unearth German talent for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö. Hang out in the ARD media library from January 25 to watch the first episodes unfold.
As per press release, Conchita Wurst and Rea Garvey will don their coach hats in "Ich will zum ESC!," handpicking a team of 15 talented singers from a pool of hopefuls. Only the cream of the crop will make it to the next rounds. Episode 5 will shine the spotlight on their favorite acts, and by the time we reach Episode 6, it's down to audience votes to choose the competitors for the "Eurovision Song Contest - The German Final 2024" preliminary round, slated for February 16 in Berlin (with a live broadcast on Ersten on February 8, 10 PM).
Malmö will host the Eurovision Song Contest finale on May 11, 2024. The Eurovision Song Contest will make a welcome return after Germany's less-than-impressive showing in 2023, with Lord of the Lost placing last behind the U.K. and Serbia. However, Loreen managed to bounce back in style, snagging the win in 2012 with the hit "Euphoria" and relocating the 2024 event to Sweden.
