Re-issues of King Crimson's albums, "In The Wake Of Poseidon" and "Lizard," set for release in October.
King Crimson's "In The Wake Of Poseidon" and "Lizard" to be Reissued
Two iconic albums from the progressive rock band King Crimson, "In The Wake Of Poseidon" and "Lizard", are set to be reissued on October 24, 2025. The reissues will be released through DGM and Panegyric.
The "In The Wake Of Poseidon" reissue will feature the complete recording sessions, presented on a single CD and Blu-ray. The Blu-ray disc includes a 2025 Dolby Atmos mix produced by Steven Wilson, a new 5.1 surround sound mix, and a new stereo album version. The set also includes the single B-side "Groon".
On the other hand, "Lizard" will be reissued in a similar CD and Blu-ray format. The Blu-ray disc will present the album in its most complete form yet, with the complete recording sessions from September 1970 in 24/48. The standout feature of the "Lizard" reissue is an all-new 2025 Elemental Mix by David Singleton.
The reissues are designed to appeal to collectors and audiophiles, with a focus on high-quality remixes and comprehensive session content. The vinyl reissue of "Lizard" is cut by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering and is manufactured at Vinyl Factory, London.
Robert Fripp, a founding member of King Crimson, has praised the experimental fusion of free-jazz and progressive rock on "Lizard". He considers it as an album that is too big for stereo to contain and believes it could be the most experimental rock record ever made.
The "In The Wake Of Poseidon" reissue will not include a new mix for the track "Devil's Triangle", but it will feature new Elemental Mixes and additional versions. For "Lizard", the track will be presented with the new Elemental Mix.
King Crimson's second album, "In The Wake Of Poseidon", and third release "Lizard" are getting reissues. These reissues will be available on CD and 200g vinyl for "Lizard". The new mixes for both albums will be handled by Steven Wilson for "In The Wake Of Poseidon" and David Singleton for "Lizard".
The reissues will come with a replica mini-vinyl style packaging and a booklet with photos and sleevenotes by King Crimson biographer Sid Smith. The reissues will be released on October 24 by DGM/Panegryic.
