RBI approves Vikram Sahu as Bank of America’s new India CEO

Vikram Sahu has been approved by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as the new chief executive of Bank of America NA in India. His appointment follows a regulatory review after he took over as the country’s overall leader in September 2023. The move marks a shift in leadership after Kaku Nakhate’s long tenure at the helm.

Sahu first stepped into the role of India Country Executive (CEO) last September. His formal appointment as CEO was pending regulatory clearance, which has now been granted. With this approval, he will also chair the India Country Leadership Team (CLT) and guide the bank’s strategic growth in the region.

The leadership change comes as Bank of America NA reinforces its presence in India. Sahu’s oversight of the strategic growth plan will determine the bank’s future trajectory in the country. Nakhate’s continued involvement in client relations ensures a smooth transition for the business.
