The match began poorly for Leipzig, who found themselves 3–0 down by the break. Loreen Bender and Estrella Merino González both scored for Leverkusen, while Vanessa Fudalla added a third from the penalty spot.

The second half saw a determined response from Leipzig. Marlene Müller and Emilia Ásgeirsdóttir each found the net, pulling the score back to 3–2. Both teams created further chances, but Leipzig could not force an equaliser.

Despite their late push, Leipzig’s comeback fell just short. The loss leaves Stephan’s side with more work to do in their battle to climb the Bundesliga table.

The result keeps RB Leipzig under pressure in the league standings. Bayer Leverkusen held on for the win, extending their advantage in the match. Leipzig will now look to regroup before their next fixture.
