Ray J Addresses Speculations Regarding His Role in Whitney Houston's Demise

Ray J, a well-known figure in the entertainment industry, has been embroiled in a long-standing controversy surrounding the death of Whitney Houston in 2012. In a recent interview on Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast, Ray J finally addressed the rumours that have been circulating since the tragic event.

Accusations of Ray J's involvement in Houston's death, including claims that he supplied drugs to her or even killed her, have been vehemently denied by the artist. Ray J clarified that he was not present at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles when Houston died and called the claim that he was "in the room when she died" the "biggest cap I've ever heard."

During the podcast interview, Ray J opened up about his relationship with Houston, revealing that they were "in love" and had planned to go public with their relationship at a Clive Davis event the next day. However, when he arrived at her hotel, he found out from her bodyguard, Ray, that she had passed away. Initially, he was not allowed to go up to her hotel room until after everything was cleared with the family.

Ray J expressed his discomfort at being associated with Whitney Houston's death, especially with the accusation of being a murderer. He emphasised that it was unfair to label him a murderer when he was not even present at the time of her death. The official cause of Whitney Houston’s death was ruled accidental drowning with heart disease and cocaine use as contributing factors; no evidence has linked Ray J with causing her death.

Interestingly, Ray J had never addressed the rumours about his involvement in Houston's death until the podcast interview. He stated that he didn't feel the need to tell everyone the truth about the rumours, but chose to do so now to set the record straight.

It is important to note that Ray J was performing a concert in San Diego when Whitney Houston died at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles. He has also claimed that he has heard rumours about being involved in Houston's death since the beginning.

This interview provides a rare insight into Ray J's relationship with Whitney Houston and his perspective on the rumours that have surrounded his involvement in her death for over a decade. While the controversy may not be entirely put to rest, Ray J's denials and clarifications offer a clearer picture of the events that transpired.
