Ratlam Makes Medical History With Three Successful Tele-Robotic Surgeries

Ratlam has made medical history with three successful tele-robotic surgeries, performed remotely by Dr Mahak Bhandari of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAIMS) in Indore. This marks a first for the state and aligns with the 'Make in India' initiative, using the indigenously developed SSI Mantra robot.

Dr Bhandari, who introduced robotic surgery in Ratlam in September 2025, performed the surgeries at Shri Jain Diwakar Aurobindo Hospital. The procedures, for hernia and gall bladder conditions, included one on a woman under the 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar' campaign. All patients are recovering well and will soon be discharged.

This achievement demonstrates India's prowess in robotic surgery, standing at par with the world's best. It also shows how advanced technology can reach smaller cities and rural areas, ensuring access to world-class healthcare for everyone. Ratlam has now emerged as a growing hub of advanced healthcare, with over 350 successful surgeries to its credit.

Dr Bhandari credited his medical, digital, and technical teams for their collaborative efforts in making these surgeries possible. With Ratlam now capable of performing complex surgeries remotely, patients no longer need to travel to other cities for critical operations, saving time, money, and reducing risk.
