Rastatt Celebrates Diversity With March Cultural Events and Shared Experiences
Rastatt is hosting a series of cultural and community events throughout March. From exhibitions and film screenings to creative workshops and culinary gatherings, the programme highlights stories of diversity, integration, and shared experiences. Many events are open to the public, though some require advance registration.
The month kicks off on March 16 with the opening of 'We Can Do It – An Update on Success Stories' at Bildungshaus St. Bernhard. Organised by the Association for International Diversity in Rastatt (VIVE), the exhibition shares personal accounts from refugees about their journeys of integration, tolerance, and coexistence in the region.
On March 17, 'Die Brücke für den Dialog Rastatt' invites residents to a communal Iftar at Rossi-Haus. This Ramadan fast-breaking meal brings people together, but registration must be completed by March 6.
The following week, on March 21, the participatory action 'Belonging – Your Voice Matters!' takes place at Rastatt Market Square. Visitors can contribute to a collaborative mural by sharing their thoughts, experiences, and wishes for the community.
For film enthusiasts, Forum Cinema Rastatt will screen 'The Mölln Letters' on March 26 at 7:00 PM. This biographical documentary follows Ibrahim Arslan as he reflects on the far-right arson attack in Mölln that claimed the lives of his family members.
Meanwhile, the Rastatt Youth Center is running creative workshops during the campaign weeks. Activities include crafting sessions, intercultural cooking, and a themed film night.
Food lovers can head to Dörfel on March 25, where the Community Work Office hosts a culinary gathering from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Guests are encouraged to bring a dish to share while sampling international cuisine.
The month closes with the opening of 'Black Heroes' at the City Library on March 24 at 7:00 PM. Based on the book 'Black. German. Successful' by Kerstin Finkelstein-Kabengele and Guy Kabengele, the exhibition celebrates Black achievements and contributions.
These events offer Rastatt residents opportunities to engage with diverse perspectives, celebrate cultural exchange, and strengthen community ties. Some activities, like the Iftar meal, require prior sign-up, while others, such as the exhibitions and film screening, welcome drop-in visitors. The programme reflects the city's commitment to dialogue, inclusion, and shared experiences.
