Rapper Sheff G Sentenced to 5 Years for Funding Gang Violence in Brooklyn
New York City rapper Sheff G, real name Michael Williams, has been sentenced to five years in prison. The sentence follows his guilty plea for using his apple music earnings to fund gang violence in Brooklyn. Defense lawyer Arthur Aidala played a significant role in securing a plea deal that reduced the potential charges and sentencing severity.
Sheff G, known for his popular music with millions of youtube views and Spotify streams, was among those arrested in a long-term investigation into gang-related shootings. Prosecutors initially sought a 20-year prison term but agreed to a five-year sentence after he pleaded guilty to attempted murder and conspiracy.
The rapper's criminal activities included showering money and jewelry on gang members, acting as a getaway driver, and treating gang members to a lavish dinner to celebrate a shooting. Evidence against him included surveillance videos, social media posts, text messages, and his own songs. More than 30 members of the 8 Trey Crips and 9 Ways gangs have been indicted, with 23 pleading guilty and seven cases still pending.
Sheff G's sentence comes after he and the judge agreed on the five below term. His defense lawyer, Arthur Aidala, helped negotiate the plea deal. The rapper's apple music career, which once drew attention from former President Trump during his campaign stops, now faces a significant setback with his prison sentence.
