Holstein Kiel Stabilizes in Second Division Under Marcel Rapp's Leadership

Holstein Kiel, the German football club, have made a strong start to their second division campaign, despite a rocky beginning. Following a 2-0 victory over fourth-tier side Homburg in the cup, the team is showing signs of resilience and determination.

Marcel Rapp, the club's head coach for the past five seasons, remains confident about the team's progress. He has extended his contract with Holstein Kiel until 2028, a testament to his commitment to the club. Rapp is proud of Holstein Kiel's growth, particularly their performance during their only Bundesliga season, where they didn't resort to defensive tactics, as some may suggest.

Rapp describes the second league as "brutally tight," but he remains optimistic, emphasizing that Holstein Kiel has a young, developing team with no finished players who have played for Schalke multiple times. The club has made several personnel changes after relegation, including the addition of fourteen new players such as Jonas Therkelsen from Norway, Kasper Davidsen from Denmark, and Adrian Kapralik from Slovakia.

Holstein Kiel's fan support and attendance at autograph sessions have grown significantly. Last season, 8,000 fans travelled to Dortmund to support the team during their Bundesliga appearance in mid-May. However, the team's start to the season has been challenging, with losses to Paderborn and Bielefeld.

In other news, Jan Uphues has left Holstein Kiel to join Preußen Münster. The club has faced changes in its leadership as well, with Olaf Rebbe replacing Carsten Wehlmann as sports director in April. Rapp, however, does not need to worry about unemployment like his counterparts Dieter Hecking at Bochum or Torsten Lieberknecht at Darmstadt 98.

Marcel Rapp's approach for Holstein Kiel is to play "attractive, offensive football." This philosophy was on display last weekend when the team scored their second league goal against Schalke. Despite the initial struggles, Holstein Kiel's future under Rapp's leadership continues to look promising.
