Raphaël Richer signs long-term deal with Omsk Avangard after chaotic Traktor exit

Raphaël Richer has inked a long-term agreement with Omsk Avangard following a brief and tumultuous spell at Traktor. The 31-year-old coach, renowned for his work in the KHL, will now helm Avangard until 2027. His move comes on the heels of a short tenure at Traktor that concluded suddenly after a resounding loss.

Richer initially joined Traktor as Benoît Groulx’s lead assistant, serving in that capacity for a season and a half. When Groulx departed on November 17, 2024, Richer assumed the role of interim head coach. However, his time in charge lasted less than a month.

Richer’s new role at Avangard signals a fresh start after his abbreviated stint at Traktor. The three-year deal underscores the club’s faith in his abilities. His extensive KHL experience and prior coaching work will now shape Avangard’s future.
