Rangers crush Jets 6-3 as DeMelo hits 700 NHL games

The New York Rangers secured a 6-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets at Canada Life Centre on Thursday. The game marked a milestone for Jets defenceman Dylan DeMelo, who played his 700th career NHL match.

Before the puck dropped, DeMelo had already featured in 699 NHL games, split between the San Jose Sharks, Ottawa Senators, and now the Jets. His 700th appearance came in a high-scoring contest where the Rangers dominated.

Kyle Connor opened the scoring for Winnipeg with his 29th goal of the season. Later, in the second period, Jets newcomers Isak Rosen and Jacob Bryson each registered their first points for the team. The Rangers took control as Gabe Perreault netted the game-winning goal. Despite late efforts from Adam Lowry and Gabe Vilardi in the third period, the Jets could not close the gap. The final score stood at 6-3 in favour of New York.

The loss leaves Winnipeg reflecting on missed chances, though DeMelo's milestone and new players contributing points offered bright spots. Meanwhile, the Rangers extended their winning form with a strong offensive display.
