Ramped-up Safety Measures Implemented for Manipur's Independence Day Festivities
In Manipur, preparations are in full swing for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2025. Amidst these preparations, security has been significantly beefed up due to a general strike call by outlawed outfits.
The authorities have mounted a comprehensive, multi-agency security apparatus combining increased troop deployment, vigilant checks, intelligence-driven arrests, and legal controls on movement. This extensive security setup aims to ensure peaceful Independence Day celebrations amid threats from these outlawed groups.
Deployment of a large number of security personnel from state police, Central Armed Police Forces (CRPF), Assam Rifles, Army, Border Security Force (BSF), and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has been increased at key crossings in and around Imphal, including Keisampat and Moirangkhom junctions.
To monitor movement, mobile check posts (MCPs) have been established at strategic points. Inspections of vehicles and frisking of individuals have been actively conducted, with a total of 722 individuals frisked and 443 vehicles inspected in recent operations.
Intensified search operations in vulnerable and mixed-population areas are being carried out to prevent untoward incidents, especially focusing on thwarting infiltration and illegal cross-border activities near the India-Bangladesh and India-Myanmar borders under special legal provisions (Section 163 of BNSS).
Recovery of significant arms and explosives by security forces, including rifles, mortars, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), bulletproof vests, radios, and the arrest of active militant cadres, indicate proactive intelligence and enforcement efforts.
As part of the security measures, CRPF, police, Assam Rifles, and students are participating in rehearsals for the official Independence Day march-past at the Ist Manipur Rifles ground and district headquarters.
In addition, restrictions on the movement and transportation of some commodities in border and sensitive areas have been imposed to limit militant activities and strike support.
The Independence Day celebrations are taking place across various locations in Manipur, with the march past rehearsals scheduled to take place at the Ist Manipur Rifles ground and district headquarters on August 15.
Meanwhile, it's important to note that the Nifty Prediction for August 13, 2025, indicates a positive index but with a potential barrier. However, the focus remains on ensuring a peaceful and secure Independence Day celebration in Manipur.
