"Upcoming Testimonies in Thuringia's Committee of Inquiry"
Minister President Bodo Ramelow and State Chancellery Leader Benjamin-Immanuel Hoff, both from the Left Party, are set to appear before the Thuringian parliament's committee of inquiry this Monday. Economics Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee (SPD) is also scheduled to testify, as announced by the Left Party parliamentary group. The CDU parliamentary group requested the questioning, with the red-red-green government factions backing the move .
This committee of inquiry was established this summer to address allegations of misconduct in the state government's personnel policy. The State Court of Auditors levied serious accusations of rule-breaking in the recruitment of civil servants against the state government .
André Blechschmidt, parliamentary director of the Left Party parliamentary group and chairman of the committee, clarified its scope. "Our mandate isn't limited to the red-red-green government's era. We aim to shed light on the recruitment practices under previous governments as well, contrasting them with the present situation since 2014," he said .
Interestingly, the Left, SPD, and Green parliamentary groups plan to summon all heads of the State Chancellery since 2009 to provide testimony. The CDU, meanwhile, has shown little interest in scrutinizing its own government's personnel policy .
While we don't have specifics on the testimonies of Ramelow and Hoff, their presence in this committee of inquiry highlights their role in addressing potential misconduct in the state government's personnel policy. Their stance against far-right entities, such as the AfD, further underscores their commitment to combating such ideologies .
