Updated Article:
On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, senatorial candidate Kiko Pangilinan held his rally at Plaza Independencia in Cebu City. The event was confirmed by volunteer campaign group members Jojo Tiongko, John Michael Remollo, Sherwin Solomon Noval, Kaye Gabutan, and others during a press conference on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
The rally, set to start at 4 PM, will be graced by local artists and national celebrities, including Gary Valenciano, Piolo Pascual, Niki Valdez, Rivermaya, and others.
According to Tiongko, Pangilinan felt the importance of Cebu and wanted to hold his rally here to connect with the locals, especially considering his political campaigning in various places within the province of Cebu.
The event isn't just for supporters; everyone is welcome, as stated by Noval. "No one is turned away. There are no colors," he said.
Despite their financial constraints, the campaign team reported that there's no lack of enthusiasm from the contender, who, as a senator, has demonstrated a long duration of service and a commitment to bettering the education sector, food security, farming, and fisheries.
Tiongko also mentioned that a senator who happens to be a lawyer is a plus, noting the need for individuals who have stood the test of time and have a heart for service.
The local Cebu Youth Artists Society, farmers, vendors, and volunteers have come together to coordinate the rally's security with the Philippine National Police.
Cebu, a vote-rich area with around 3.4 million voters, is strategically important for Pangilinan's bid to gain support. The governor's endorsement further strengthens his position in the province. Cebu's influence isn't confined to its local political landscape, as it is a key province in the Visayas region, giving Pangilinan an opportunity to expand his reach and momentum across the country.
