Ralf König marks his 65th birthday with the release of "Plum Drop and Cream Trimming"!
In celebration of graphic novelist Ralf König's 65th birthday, Egmont Comic Collection unveils a special limited-edition book. Titled "Pflaumensturz und Sahneschnitten - 65 Jahre Ralf König," it features over 100 previously unpublished comics, including favorites like "Konrad and Paul," "Moses," and "Spargel."
To mark this milestone, König sat down with journalist and comic expert Alex Jakubowski for an in-depth chat about his life, works, and numerous milestones. Topics range from personal anecdotes and inspirations to explorations of the queer scene, religion, and society. This interview takes center stage in the 192-page anniversary edition, capturing a relaxed, intimate atmosphere reminiscent of a friendly conversation around the kitchen table.
The book will cover König's significant works and milestones, offering insights into his career, beginning from Ostwestfalen, and discussing influential moments such as the creation of "The Man Who Would Be Queen" as well as dealing with the challenges of aging and fear of failure.
Alex Jakubowski praises the project, saying it will delight fans with its beautifully produced content, including an engaging interview full of exciting anecdotes, drawings, sketches, and photos by König. Experts might even discover some surprising insights.
König and Jakubowski will embark on a book tour across Germany, starting at the bookstore Eisenherz in Berlin on June 4, followed by Frankfurt am Main, Cologne, Saarbrücken, and Munich. They'll be presenting the book at the Schwabing clubhouse and during the Munich Comic Festival, with specific details for tickets available from organizers.
"Pflaumensturz und Sahneschnitten - 65 Jahre Ralf König" will be available in stores and online at www.egmont-shop.de from June 11, 2025, for €35.00. ISBN 978-3-7704-1165-8.
