Congress Accuses Mahayuti Government of Corruption and Vote Rigging in Maharashtra

Ramesh Chennithala, the Maharashtra in-charge of the Congress, has accused the Mahayuti government of running the most corrupt government in the history of Maharashtra. This statement was made at the end of a two-day, state-level workshop attended by Chennithala and state unit president Harshwardhan Sapkal.

Chennithala claimed that the Mahayuti dispensation did not keep their promise on the farm loan waiver. He also accused the government of failing to implement the flagship Ladki Bahin scheme effectively, with many women being excluded from its ambit.

Moreover, Chennithala accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission of India (ECI) of colluding to undermine the democratic process during elections in the country. He alleged that 'vote chori' (vote rigging) occurred in Maharashtra, Haryana, and Bihar elections.

Chennithala stated that if the Thackeray brothers reunite, the party will hold discussions and make a decision regarding Raj Thackeray's role in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance. Discussions between Congress and the MVA about Raj Thackeray’s role in the alliance are ongoing but cautious, contingent on the formal reunification between Raj and Uddhav Thackeray.

Rahul Gandhi is leading protests against 'vote chori' to save democracy, according to Ramesh Chennithala. He also pointed at the allegations against minister of state for home, Yogesh Kadam, in connection with a dance bar in Mumbai and the controversy over cabinet minister Manikrao Kokate playing a game of rummy on his mobile phone during a legislative session.

Chennithala attacked Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, questioning why he spoke on behalf of the ECI after Rahul Gandhi raised concerns about its functioning. He further accused the BJP of deliberately delaying the long-pending elections to the local bodies in the state.

The two-day workshop was attended by all state-level leaders and office-bearers of the Congress. Harshwardhan Sapkal, the state unit president, said that the Congress has remained strong despite some leaders quitting. He expressed optimism about the party's future in Maharashtra.
