Rainfall refreshes Delhi-NCR weather, providing welcome respite with pleasant conditions prevailing in Delhi and Noida.

Delhi and its surrounding regions, commonly known as the National Capital Region (NCR), have been experiencing an unusual mix of weather conditions in recent days.

On Tuesday, the maximum temperature soared to 36.3°C, marking the hottest day of September in Delhi. This was approximately 2.5 degrees above the normal temperature for this time of the year. However, the day was not entirely dry, as rain was reported in several areas of Delhi and NCR in the evening.

The weather fluctuations were also reflected in the humidity levels, which ranged between 89% and 48% during the day.

The rain that swept through Delhi on Tuesday created a striking scene at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, capturing the attention of everyone.

Despite being in its final phase, the monsoon hasn't completely withdrawn yet. Normally, the monsoon withdraws from Delhi by the end of September, but this year, chances of light rain remain. Last year, the monsoon had extended its stay, with light rain reported in the last week of September.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi has not seen a drop of rain in the past 10 days. However, private weather agency Skymet has forecast that Delhi may witness light showers on September 17 and 18, due to a western disturbance and local weather systems.

On Wednesday afternoon, rain showers swept through Delhi and parts of the NCR, bringing much-needed relief and a fresh feel to the capital. Areas including Delhi High Court, South Moti Bagh, Civil Lines, and Noida Sector 11 experienced light showers.

The weather department predicted a partly cloudy sky for Wednesday, with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to hover around 34°C and 24°C respectively. Similar dry conditions may continue for a few more days, as per the IMD.

Residents are hoping the forecast holds true, as even short spells of rain would bring much-needed respite from the prevailing hot and humid conditions. As of now, no specific information about a precipitation forecast for Thursday, September 17, has been reported by any weather agency.
