Rain or Shine crushes Blackwater with historic 56-point PBA blowout

Rain or Shine delivered a historic performance in the PBA Commissioner's Cup on March 31, 2026. The team crushed Blackwater 151-95, setting a new league record with a 56-point winning margin—the largest ever recorded. From the opening tip, Rain or Shine dominated the game. Andrei Caracut exploded for 18 points in the first quarter alone, finishing with 22 for the match. His scoring surge helped the team race to a 42-15 lead after the first period, extending it to 75-44 by halftime.

Coach Yeng Guiao's game plan focused on a fast-paced transition attack to neutralise Blackwater's import, Robert Upshaw. The strategy paid off, as Rain or Shine outscored their opponents 38-9 on fast breaks and drained 18 three-pointers. Jaylen Johnson contributed 20 points, including a four-point play, despite sitting out for long stretches of the game. Blackwater's Upshaw, playing through illness, still managed 24 points and 9 rebounds. But the balanced scoring from Rain or Shine proved too much—Deo Cuajao added 15 points in his debut, while five other players scored at least 12 each. The blowout victory marked Rain or Shine's fourth straight win, reinforcing their early-season dominance in the tournament.

The 151-95 result shattered the previous league record for the largest margin of victory. Rain or Shine's relentless offence and defensive pressure secured their place at the top of the standings. The team now looks ahead to maintaining their momentum in the coming matches.
