Brace yourself, folks! The weather forecast for Bavaria isn't looking too hot this week. Starting from Sunday afternoon, showers and thunderstorms are set to roll in from the west, courtesy of the German Weather Service (DWD). Be ready for potential hailstorms with up to three-centimeter hail, strong winds, and heavy rain!

The police and fire departments have been on high alert in Franconia, due to fallen trees, flooded streets, and basements. Particularly hard-hit was Trebgast (Kulmbach's district), where a sports hall endured storm damage.

The DWD warns of heavy thunderstorms in regions such as Lower Franconia, Upper Franconia, Middle Franconia, Swabia, Upper Palatinate, and Upper Bavaria. Police departments have reported "several deployments" in Upper Franconia as the storms worsened in the evening.

On the brighter side (or darker, depending on your sentiments), the start of the week might see occasional sunshine for Lower Franconia, with temperatures ranging between 19 and 24 degrees. But don't put away your umbrellas just yet; the DWD predicts more showers and thunderstorms throughout the week.

From Tuesday onwards, you'll want to keep an umbrella handy as rain and isolated thunderstorms move in quickly. Wednesday could start sunny but expect strong cloud cover to roll in, and widespread showers and thunderstorms to ensue, with heavy thunderstorms possible in the south. Temperatures are expected to range between 20 and 27 degrees.

Stay tuned for updates on the ever-changing weather in Bavaria! Keep an eye on your local news, and heed any instructions from local authorities to stay safe. And, with the unpredictable weather, it's a good idea to make preparations for potential power outages, flooding, and damage from hail and strong winds. In case you have travel plans, remember to keep updated on any weather-related disruptions, especially in air travel.

As the weather forecast predicts wet, stormy weather for Bavaria, the Commission has also been consulted on the draft regulation on the application of the rules on the protection of the environment, with several regions, including Upper Franconia, Lower Franconia, Middle Franconia, Swabia, Upper Palatinate, and Upper Bavaria, at particular risk of heavy thunderstorms. Thus, it is advisable to stay tuned for updates on the unpredictable weather and make preparations for potential power outages, flooding, and damage from hail and strong winds.
