Rahul Gandhi Accuses BJP of Sending Arun Jaitley to Intimidate Him; Rohan Jaitley Denies, Stating His Father Passed Away Before Farm Laws
In a surprising turn of events at the Annual Legal Conclave 2025, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed that the late Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was sent by the BJP to threaten him for opposing the farm laws introduced by the Narendra Modi government. Rohan Jaitley, the current DDCA chief, shared a post on platform X, emphasising that Arun Jaitley believed in building consensus and it was not in his nature to threaten anyone over an opposing view. He also pointed out that Arun Jaitley passed away in 2019, while the farm laws were introduced in 2020, making the claim factually incorrect.
During his speech at the Annual Legal Conclave 2025, Rahul Gandhi alleged that Jaitley told him if he continued opposing the farm laws, "we will have to act against you," to which Gandhi responded defiantly. The BJP has since labelled Gandhi’s claim as misleading and stated it was in poor taste to accuse a deceased leader of such behaviour.
Rohan Jaitley's post also reminded Rahul Gandhi of the timeline regarding Arun Jaitley and the farm laws. The alleged threat occurred during Rahul Gandhi's fight against the farm laws, with Arun Jaitley warning that action would be taken against him if he continued to oppose the government and fight the farm laws.
