As the evening approached, the fire had swiftly grown to an estimated 200 acres, although the exact size remains unclear. Kittitas County Fire District 7 posted on Facebook around 7:15 p.m., stating, "Exact acres burning is unknown at this time, there has been a loss of structures, total count is unconfirmed at this time." The fire is now under the control of the U.S. Forest Service, with firefighters on the ground to combat the blaze. According to a spokesperson for the Washington Department of Natural Resources, Thomas Kyle-Milward, the scene is brimming with three helicopters, four fire engines, one crew, two dozers, a Type 3 incident management team, air tankers, four more fire crews, a strike team of five engines, and three more engines, all united in their efforts to battle the inferno.
The region saw scorching temperatures on Monday, with temperatures in Cle Elum reaching the mid-90s, and winds gusting over 20 mph in the evening, as per the National Weather Service.
